Sizing a 3D printable model for cosplay

August 20, 2025

All our 3D models are created using an average-sized body as the reference. This means that when you download our armor pieces or helmets, they may appear slightly larger or smaller depending on your body type.

🛡️ General Fit Guidelines

  • For intentionally oversized pieces (e.g., the Hornet’s Helmet or Space Marine Armor), you don’t need a snug fit.

  • You can scale down these files if desired — just remember that doing so will alter the proportional look of the costume.

👷 When to Check the Scale Carefully

We highly recommend verifying the scale for helmets — especially the Marine Helmet and Chainsaw Man Helmet.
These are designed to be tight-fitting for a more authentic anime/game-style appearance.

🧩 How to Check Helmet Fit:

  • Use tools like 3D Builder or Blender to measure the model.

  • Or, run a test print of the narrowest part to check comfort before printing the full helmet.

💡 TIP: Before printing a complete piece, slice off a small section and try it on. This simple trick can save you a lot of material!

🧠 If It Feels Too Tight...

No worries! You can easily fix the scaling.
First, take a look at the average body measurements we use - they’ll help you understand how large the STL files are meant to be.

📄 Download the sizing PDF manual

Now you’ll know the expected dimensions of the files you’re downloading. If your armor, helmet, or prop needs to fit better, simply scale it up or down.

You can do so in Prusaslicer, Meshmixer, Bambu studio, Blender, 3D builder, and any other program in just a few clicks.

📏 Need Precise Measurements?

You can 3D print and use our measurement caliper tool to measure yourself accurately.

Once you know:

  1. The size of your file, and

  2. The size of your body part,

...you can easily calculate the scaling percentage (or just ask ChatGPT 😉).
Remember to scale all files - including connection pegs.
