⚙️ Assembly
The model is divided into four main rings. The front cover parts are glued together using 3D-printed hex pegs.
The ‘Construction rim’ is assembled with bolts and nuts.
The gear with the blades is glued together. The blades can be manually opened and closed, and they are glued into prepared slots. The back cover is glued together and then attached with bolts and nuts.
An extra wheel mounted on the back cover lets you spin the shield either by hand, or - more accurately - by winding a rope or leather strip around the wheel and pulling it, which creates a dynamic spin.
The whole spinning system works thanks to four ball bearings and one clamp bearing. A bill of materials and an assembly video with 3D renders are included.
This project is recommended for people who enjoy assembling more complex models and don’t mind spending some time with a screwdriver. 🛠️👷
