Description
The Ma’Tok staff is a weapon Jaffa warriors use in the Star Gate series and movies. It is used as a ranged energy weapon (Firing from the oval side, which can be opened) or as a melee weapon (club)
This model is a staff. Instead of printing the long cylindrical parts of the staff, we recommend using a 140 cm aluminum tube 30mm in outer diameter (2 mm wall thickness)
There are two versions of the Ma’Tok Jaffa staff
- Static staff – closed staff
- Openable staff – files contain mechanical parts that can be assembled into a functional openable staff using electronics. 140 cm aluminum tube 30mm in outer diameter (2 mm wall thickness) is required.
Files contain pieces of the staff ready to be 3D printed and complete staff files (obj), that is not cut into smaller pieces. All files are full detailed

This product includes STL files, Arduino files, resources, wiring diagram, sounds, and a Bill of Materials for a custom PCB design. It does not include a step-by-step guide. A fair amount of experience with Arduino, programming, and electronics is required to use this resource effectively.
The electronics are designed using KiCAD 5 and feature a single-sided PCB with two wire jumpers. The PCB has dimensions of 102 x 40 mm.
You will need to source additional external components:
- WS2812b LED strip (400mm) split into four 100mm strips (10 LEDs each)
- Speaker suitable for DFPlayer, 8 ohm, 3W or less
- Momentary switch, normally open
- Servo motor, MG996 or compatible
- Two LiPo batteries connected in series
Note: The PCB is not designed to charge batteries internally—an external charger is required.

At 100% scale the Staff dimensions are:
Width approx. 165 mm
Length approx. 1970 mm
Height approx. 135 mm
You can scale the model as you wish
PRINTER SETTINGS
Printing settings will vary greatly depending on your specific printer.
We recommend a layer height of 0.2 mm on FDM printers. All parts are aligned to the printing platform for easy manipulation. Most of the parts need minimal or no use of printing supports to save printing time and filament. For reliable printing, we also recommend setting a brim to the Zat’nik’tel, because of its height. It will ensure that the parts will not come off the printing platform during the printing process. Printing settings will vary greatly depending on your specific printer.
